Testing & Troubleshooting
If you have had trouble making routes in Dante Controller due to a “No more flows” error it is important to understand the concept of Dante Flows.
From the Dante Controller user guide: “Dante audio routing creates ‘flows‘. Each flow carries one or more channels of audio from a transmitting device to one or more receiving devices.”
The Dante Ultimo IC is limited to two transmit and two receive flows. So while many Studio Tech Ultimo-based products are capable of transmitting and/or receiving four channels of audio it can only receive from two unique flows and transmit to two unique flows.

Can’t Select a Network Interface in STcontroller for Windows®? No Problem.
Recently we’ve had customers contact us regarding an issue where STcontroller for Windows could not connect to a local network interface. They found that their network interfaces would be listed in the dropdowns, but no option could be selected. The IP Address and MAC values below the interface dropdowns would also remain unchanged. This would result in STcontroller for Windows failing to identify supported Studio Technologies’

Firmware Updates
Model 348
Yesterday we released new firmware for the Model 348 that adds several significant features:
- IFB Program Inputs: 8 new Dante receive channels are used to provide the IFB Program source allowing the user the option of monitoring the IFB program source or the main output from on-air talent.
- Audible Call Tone: Call signals can now be indicated both visually or visually and audibly. When visual and audio call indication is selected the active call input channel will blink and a ~500 Hz tone is sent to the speaker and/or Dante Monitor outputs.

Testing & Troubleshooting
We often receive technical support calls from customers who are setting up their first Dante network and are having issues communicating with the devices using Dante Controller. Usually this comes from confusion regarding what IP address assignment scheme is being used. It is important to make sure that all of the Dante devices, included the PC running Dante Controller, are assigned to the same IP subnet.
For small networks using self-assigned IP addresses,

ST 2110
Last month we took final prototypes of our new Model 5512 Audio Interface and Model 5518 Mic/Line Interface units for a “real-world test drive” at a well-regarded music recording studio in Chicago. The ‘5512 and ‘5518 support SMPTE ST 2110 and utilize our latest analog and digital circuit designs. These units are hardware “cousins” with the new Dante-enabled Model 5412 Audio Interface and Model 5418 Mic/Line Interface. We knew that the performance specifications of all the units as measured by our test equipment was very good.

Firmware Updates
Model 391
Version 1.2 of the Main Firmware for the Model 391 Dante Alerting Unit has been released. It adds some nice enhancements to what’s already a very interesting and useful product.
A major new feature allows the unit to simultaneously monitor Dante receive channels 1 and 2 for the presence of a call signal. When a call signal is detected (typically 20 kHz in the audio channel) the visual indicator will respond with a different color depending on which channel the call signal was received.
