Network Equipment for Dante Applications

Over the years people have asked us if there were specific makes or models of networking equipment that we could recommend. Their goal was to optimize their network deployment to function well with our Dante®-enabled products. Our standard reply has always been that any Ethernet networking equipment that complies with the relevant IEEE® standards should work acceptably. We were hesitant to recommend any specific equipment as there were many fine brands of equipment that could meet the requirements.

Interfacing Unity Intercom to Analog Intercom using Dante

We often get calls from customers looking to connect their existing analog intercom systems to the intercom solutions provided by Unity Intercom. This can be easily done by installing Dante® Virtual Soundcard on the Mac running Unity Server. Then Dante Controller can be used to route any Dante audio to/from the Unity system.

Studio Technologies’ Model 44D Audio Interface is intended to be used to connect two channels of analog 4-wire intercom to a Dante network.

Procedures for Cleaning and Sanitizing Broadcast Equipment

Recently, a customer of ours in an education setting asked us if we recommend any procedures for cleaning and sanitizing broadcast equipment during this COVID 19 pandemic. The customer uses our equipment in a broadcast school and most of their announcer’s consoles have multiple users per day.

Studio Technologies has not published any cleaning procedures for our equipment. However, we’ve come across some good information from other sources.
