The Model 24 consists of a metal chassis containing five lighted pushbutton switches, microphone and line inputs, and supporting audio, status, and control circuitry. An external interrupt audio source is required. This can be in the form of a microphone or line-level signal. A microphone input is provided for connection to an electret gooseneck microphone. The Model 11B Gooseneck Microphone Kit, an option available from Studio Technologies, is directly compatible. The transformer-coupled line input allows various pieces of communications equipment to serve as the interrupt audio source. This can be used to interface with intercom systems from companies such as RTS® and Clear-Com®, typically utilizing their "hot mic out" signals. A configuration switch allows Model 24 interrupt activity to mute the monitor amplifier outputs on the associated Model 2A Central Controllers.

The optional Model 27A 19-Inch Rack Adapter allows the Model 24 to be mounted in one space of a standard 19-inch rack enclosure. Alternately, the Model 24 can be flush mounted in an opening provided in a custom-fabricated enclosure or cabinet surface. The Model 24 interfaces with two Model 2A Central Controllers using separate 9-conductor interface cables. Power for the Model 24 is provided by the connected Model 2A Central Controllers. However, only one Model 2A needs to be operational for the Model 24 to be functional.

Application: provides remote 4-channel interrupt (talk) location for IFB system based on two Model 2A Central Controller units, up to four Model 24 units can be connected to the two Model 2A Central Controllers

Power Requirements: 18 Vdc, 50 mA nominal, provided by connected Model 2A Central Controller

Interconnections: two DE-9F (9-pin D-subminiature female) connectors; each links the Model 24 with a Model 2A Central Controller
